Nine times out of ten the first thing anyone asks us is what portaloo hire actually costs in Brisbane, and the honest answer has two numbers in it rather than one. There is the hire figure, and there is delivery, and any supplier who gives you only the first is telling you half the story. Here is the full 2026 list. Portaloo hire cost in Brisbane: the 2026 price list
A builders portaloo is $210 excluding GST for its 28 day minimum hire. An event portaloo is $88 including GST for its four day minimum. Delivery is quoted separately, at $140 excluding GST on the builders fleet and $154 including GST on the event fleet. Those four figures are the whole price list.
The two fleets are genuinely different units and we never mix them:
- Builders portaloo. $210 excluding GST, 28 day minimum, which works out at $7.50 a day. Heavy-duty, built for a crew using it daily on a working site.
- Event portaloo. $88 including GST, four day minimum. Presentation grade, cleaned to a different standard, and reserved for functions.
The GST basis differs because the audiences do. Builders units are quoted excluding GST for a trade audience who claim it back. Event units are quoted including GST because the person hiring one for a wedding is paying the number they see.
What both figures already include, and what people are often surprised is not an extra:
- Delivery of the unit to your site and setting it up level and stable
- Scheduled servicing across the hire, meaning pump-out, clean and restock
- Licensed waste disposal, which is not optional and cannot lawfully be skipped
- Collection at the end of the hire
What sits outside them is delivery as a separate quoted line, extra servicing beyond the standard run, after-hours or weekend delivery, and any emergency call-out between scheduled visits.
How much is a portable toilet per day?
Brisbane portaloos are not sold on a day rate. Hire is quoted as a minimum hire figure with delivery on top, so the honest per-day answer is that a builders portaloo works out at $7.50 a day across its 28 day minimum, and an event portaloo is a flat $88 including GST for up to four days rather than a daily charge at all.
We are deliberately not dividing the event figure into a daily rate, because that number would be misleading. A four day minimum on a one day wedding is still $88, so a "per day" figure of $22 would suggest a two day hire costs $44. It does not.
The reason day rates do not work in this trade is that the cost sits at the ends, not the middle. Running the truck out, levelling the unit, servicing it and collecting it costs the same whether the unit stands for four days or forty.
How much is a portaloo for a week?
A one week hire sits inside the minimum on both fleets, so the figure you plan around is $210 excluding GST for a builders unit and $88 including GST for an event unit, plus delivery.
That surprises people who expect a week to cost a quarter of a month. It does not, because you are not buying time, you are buying a delivery, a set-up, a service visit and a collection. Those four things happen regardless.
The practical consequence is that short hires look expensive per day and long hires look cheap. If your job might run three weeks or might run three months, ask for both on the same quote before you decide.
How much is a mobile toilet for rent?
A mobile toilet and a portaloo are the same thing, and in Brisbane the rent is $210 excluding GST for a builders unit on a 28 day minimum, or $88 including GST for an event unit on a four day minimum. Delivery is quoted separately in both cases.
Different words, same product. We say hire and portaloo; plenty of people say rent and mobile toilet; the unit that turns up is identical.

How much does it cost to hire a portable toilet in Australia?
Nationally, portable toilet hire is charged as a minimum hire period plus delivery, and the two things that drive the number everywhere are servicing frequency and distance from the depot. Licensed waste disposal is the cost most people never see, and it is the reason a hire rate is not just rent on a plastic box.
We are not going to publish a national price range, because we do not operate nationally and any figure we gave you would be a guess. What we can tell you is the structure, which does hold: base hire, minimum period, delivery on distance, servicing included, extra servicing quoted.
For South East Queensland, our figures above are the real ones. Everywhere else, ask your local supplier for the same four numbers and you will be able to compare properly.
What changes the price on your portaloo hire quote
Six things, and distance is the biggest:
- Distance from our Capalaba depot. A drop in Cleveland or Capalaba costs less to deliver than one going to Caboolture or out past Ipswich.
- Hire duration. Longer hires spread the fixed costs and look far better per day.
- Service frequency. A large crew through a Brisbane summer often wants more than the standard run.
- Site access. Whether the truck can get close enough to place the unit where you want it.
- Weekend or after-hours delivery. Event work often needs it; builders work rarely does.
- Number of units. Multiple units on one drop share the delivery run.
None of those are surprise line items. They are all quoted up front, which is the entire point of splitting delivery out rather than burying it. Every figure we hire at is listed together on our hire prices page.
The one worth planning around properly is servicing frequency, because it is the only variable that scales with how hard the unit gets used rather than with distance or duration. A two-person renovation crew and a fifteen-person commercial site both hire the same unit at the same rate, but they do not need the same service run. Tell us the crew size honestly at quote time and the schedule gets set correctly from the start, which is cheaper than discovering it mid-build and adding visits.
Site access is the other one people underestimate. If the truck cannot get within reach of where you want the unit, it goes where the truck can reach instead, and on a tight block that is not always where you would have chosen. A photo of the intended spot at quote time saves that conversation on delivery day.
Are portable toilets worth it?
A portaloo is worth it when you have workers or guests on site and nowhere legal or decent for them to go. On a building site it is not really optional, because Queensland workplace health and safety obligations require amenities for the crew. At an event it decides whether people stay.
Where it is not worth it: a two hour job with a house next door and one person on site. Nobody needs to hire a unit for that, and we will tell you so.
The case people misjudge most often is a renovation. The assumption is that the crew can use the bathroom inside, which holds right up until the bathroom is the room being renovated.
