Three-phase 415V power is essential for commercial and industrial construction sites that require heavy machinery, welding equipment, or large-scale electrical loads. Standard single-phase 240V supply cannot deliver the power capacity needed for tower cranes, large compressors, commercial HVAC installations, or industrial welding rigs. Our three-phase temporary power poles are pre-wired with 415V metering and heavy-duty switchgear, and every installation is fully Energex compliant, with EWR lodgement included. Three-phase poles are available now in a stayed configuration; the stayless three-phase design is coming soon and cannot yet be hired. We can also arrange three-phase underground connections for estates with below-ground mains. Whether you are building a warehouse, a multi-unit residential development, or a commercial fitout, a three-phase temporary supply ensures your trades have the power capacity they need from day one.

What is a 3-phase power pole?

Fast, Reliable Site Power for Residential Builders

For residential builders, getting power to site quickly and reliably is non-negotiable. Our builder's site power poles are the go-to solution for new home builds, knockdown rebuilds, and renovation projects across South East Queensland. We've been powering building sites since 1960 — we know the process inside and out.

Every builder's pole installation includes:

  • Hardware delivery
  • Delivery and installation by our own crew
  • EWR lodgement with Energex
  • 12 weeks of rental
  • Full removal at the end of the hire

You choose the phase — single phase for standard residential builds or three phase for larger projects — and we handle the rest.

We work with volume builders, owner-builders, and individual contractors across Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, and Ipswich. We confirm your installation window after reviewing your site details, keeping your build on schedule from day one.

Safety & Compliance

Three-phase installations require additional safety measures and testing to ensure safe operation at 415V.

  • Three-phase rated hardware and metering
  • AS/NZS 3000 compliant professional installation
  • EWR lodgement with Energex for the 3-phase connection
  • Safety switch and RCD testing included
  • Suitable for heavy machinery and industrial equipment

Typical Timeline
1

Requirements Assessment

Quote review

We confirm your power requirements — load capacity, connection type, and site access. Three-phase installations may require additional Energex coordination.

2

Installation

Site specific

Our crew delivers and installs the three-phase pole, built up with its metering and switchgear by licensed electricians at our depot. We lodge the EWR with Energex.

3

Energex Connects The Pole

Provider timing

Your retailer raises the service order. The network connection is then scheduled separately by the relevant provider, and three-phase can take longer to arrange. This is the network connection, not yet live power.

4

Retailer Installs The Meter

Provider timing

Your retailer or metering provider controls this appointment. Power only starts flowing once the meter is in.

Collection

End of hire

When your permanent three-phase supply is connected, we remove the pole and all associated hardware.

Where do you deliver 3-phase power poles?

Have questions about three-phase power pole hire? Here are answers to the most common queries from commercial builders and site managers.

3-phase power pole hire FAQs

When do I need three-phase power?
Three-phase power is required when your site uses heavy machinery, large compressors, commercial HVAC systems, or industrial equipment that runs on 415V. It’s standard for commercial builds, multi-unit developments, and industrial construction projects.
Is three-phase more expensive than single phase?
Yes. Three-phase poles cost more than single-phase due to the larger pole section, three-phase metering, and heavier-duty switchgear required for 415V supply. Contact us for a quote.
What capacity is available on three-phase poles?
Our standard three-phase poles support 63A to 100A capacity. For larger loads, contact us to discuss your specific requirements — we can arrange custom configurations for major projects.
Does Energex take longer to connect three-phase?
Three-phase connections can take longer than single phase. The timing sits with Energex and depends on crew availability and whether any network upgrades are needed at the street level, so we don't promise fixed connection timeframes — we'll share current expectations when we prepare your quote, and starting early is the best protection for your build programme.
Can I get three-phase on a stayed or stayless pole?
Three-phase power is available now on a stayed pole. Three-phase stayless poles are coming soon and cannot yet be hired. Register your interest if your commercial site has limited space and we will share launch updates.
What about three-phase underground connections?
Three-phase underground connections are available for estates with underground mains. These involve additional cable and electrician supervision costs. Contact us for a site-specific quote.
