Choosing a temporary power pole means choosing the electrical supply and a suitable installation. Start with the equipment that will run on site, rather than choosing by the size of the building alone.

Our temporary poles provide 63A single-phase or 63A per phase for three-phase supply. Ask your licensed electrician to confirm the required capacity and outlets before selecting from the temporary power options.

Single-phase or three-phase?

List the major equipment and which items will operate together. Include starting loads and any equipment that specifically needs three-phase power in the discussion with your electrician. A motor, compressor or pump should be assessed from its requirements, not its name alone.

A larger building does not automatically mean three-phase is needed. Conversely, a small project may use equipment that does need it. Send the assessed requirements with your quote request so the available configuration and network capacity can be confirmed.

Overhead or underground?

This choice concerns how the pole connects to the local network. An overhead supply uses a service line from the network pole. An underground supply uses an assessed cable route to the network pillar.

Do not assume that overhead is available on a street served by underground mains. Photos of the street connection point and site entrance help us review the options. For the standard underground arrangement and extra work, see underground temporary poles.

How much ground space is needed?

Our available stayed poles have three metal stays, with anchors about 2 m from the base. The installation guide shows a 3 m working-clearance area. Keep the position clear of the planned building, vehicle routes and stored materials.

Those dimensions describe the equipment layout. Electrical-line exclusion requirements and nearby scaffold or crane work need separate assessment. The installation specification shows the standard layout subject to site review.

Stayless poles are coming soon. Do not select a stayless option for a current build on the assumption it is already available or has confirmed dimensions.

What determines the pole position?

The network connection, property boundary, truck access, underground services and future construction all matter. Our standard overhead guide allows a service span up to 25 m, subject to site and network assessment. It is not permission to cross a neighbour's property or ignore other constraints.

What should I send with the enquiry?

Provide the address, plan, access photos and assessed equipment requirements. Include the preferred installation date and the date you need usable power. They are different milestones: network connection and metering follow their own arrangements.

The three-phase product page has the current option and hire price. We confirm suitability before scheduling.

Frequently asked questions

What is your standard temporary supply?
Our temporary poles provide 63A single-phase or 63A per phase for three-phase supply. The appropriate configuration still needs assessment against the site equipment and network requirements.
Does a commercial build always need three-phase?
No. Choose from the assessed equipment loads and connection requirements, not the building category alone.
Can I hire a stayless pole now?
No. Our stayless option is coming soon. Stayed and underground options can be assessed for current projects.
