One of the most common questions we get from Brisbane builders is: how much does a temporary power pole actually cost? The answer depends on your pole type, site location, and connection requirements. Here's a transparent breakdown of our 2026 pricing so you can budget accurately for your build.

2026 Temporary Power Pole Prices

Here are our current prices for temporary power pole hire in Brisbane and South East Queensland (all prices exclude GST):

Stayed Power Pole — from $860

The most popular option for standard residential builds. Includes delivery, installation, meter box, RCD safety switch, standard outlets (2x 15A + 1x 10A), and collection. Metal support stays included. Minimum hire period of 12 weeks is included in the base price.

Stayless Power Pole — from $960

Self-supporting design with no external stays. Same inclusions as the stayed pole. Best for tight blocks and inner-city sites where stays would be impractical. The $100 premium covers the heavier base engineering.

Underground Power Pole — from $1,150

Required for estates with underground power reticulation (no overhead lines). Shorter pole with underground cable connection. Common in newer developments like Springfield, Yarrabilba, Ripley, and Pimpama. Includes all standard fittings plus underground connection hardware.

3-Phase Power Pole — from $1,300

For commercial builds and large residential projects requiring three-phase power. Includes 415V three-phase outlets in addition to standard single-phase. Required for heavy machinery, commercial air conditioning, and some industrial equipment.

What's Included in the Price?

Every temporary power pole hire from Poles and Holes includes: delivery to your site via crane truck, professional installation by our licensed crew, meter box with RCD safety switch, standard power outlets, Energex Form 2 paperwork (we handle it), minimum 12-week hire period, and collection when you're done.

What's NOT Included (Budget for These Separately)

Electricity consumption — The pole has a meter. You'll receive an electricity bill from your retailer for the power your trades use during the build. Budget approximately $200-500 for a typical residential build.

Extended hire beyond 12 weeks — If your build runs longer than 12 weeks (most do), a daily hire rate applies after the included period. This varies by pole type but is typically $4-7 per day.

Delivery outside standard zones — Delivery within 40km of our Capalaba depot is included in the base price. Sites further out (Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba) attract a delivery surcharge.

How to Save on Your Temporary Power Pole

Bundle with a portable toilet. Most builders need both power and toilet facilities on site. We offer package pricing when you hire both together — it's cheaper than hiring separately from two different companies.

Book early. Last-minute bookings sometimes incur urgency fees. Booking 2-3 weeks ahead gives us flexibility to schedule your installation efficiently.

Choose the right pole type. Don't pay for a stayless pole if your site has plenty of space for stays. Conversely, don't choose a stayed pole on a tight site just to save $100 — the access problems will cost you more in the long run.
