We supply temporary poles for both overhead and underground connections. Stayed overhead and underground poles are available now; stayless overhead poles are coming soon. Choose the connection to suit the electricity network at your site.

A temporary builder's supply (TBS) acts as the bridge between the street mains and your tradespeople. It's essential while your property is being built.
We review the address, access, pole configuration and requested project date, then confirm pricing and the next steps.
We confirm the available delivery and installation window after the quote and site details are approved.
The network connection is scheduled separately by the relevant provider. Ask them for the current site-specific timeframe.
Your retailer or metering provider controls this appointment. Power starts only after all required connection and metering steps are complete.

A single-phase site pole starts at $600 for the 12-week minimum hire and three-phase starts at $840. Standard-zone delivery starts at $350 and is shown as a separate line item. Get my pole hire quoteAllow a clear access path at least 3 m wide for our trucks. Tell us about gates, slopes and overhead obstructions so we can confirm access and placement before booking.
Place a visible stake or spray mark where you want the pole installed.
Keep the installation area clear of rubbish, vegetation and planned work.
Provide underground-service information so the location can be assessed before excavation.
A 1,300mm deep hole will be dug for the pole footing.
3 support stays installed with a 2m radius from the pole base (stayless options coming soon).
Allow 3m working clearance around our stayed pole; electrical-line exclusion requirements are assessed separately.
Service cables must not cross neighbouring properties.
Once permanent power is connected, close your temporary account with your retailer and call us for pole pickup.
Need to completely remove the connection?
If the wires on the temporary pole are not being transferred to a permanent supply, the account holder must request a “Supply Abolishment” through their electricity retailer. Once the wires and meter have been removed from the temporary pole, contact Poles and Holes and we will arrange off-hire and pickup.
⚠ Important: Premises must be vacant on removal day. Do not begin demolition until Energex confirms in writing that the removal of the service line is complete.
Once your build is complete, you may need a permanent private power pole installed or an existing one replaced. We also offer permanent power pole installation with galvanised steel options and site-specific installation requirements.
We service all of South East Queensland from our Capalaba depot.
Standard-zone delivery starts from $350 excluding GST within 40km of our Capalaba depot, covering much of Brisbane, Logan, Redlands, Ipswich and Moreton Bay.
Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast are also covered. Enter the site address to calculate delivery outside the standard zone, with any distance surcharge shown separately.
