If you're building on the Gold Coast, one of the first things you'll need is a temporary power pole. This guide covers the types of poles available, the installation process, Energex requirements, and what to expect when hiring a temporary power pole for your Gold Coast project.
Why You Need a Temporary Power Pole
A temporary power pole provides metered electricity to your construction site from slab stage through to handover. Without one, your trades will need to rely on generators — which are noisy, expensive to run, and can't power everything a modern building site needs.
Temporary power poles connect directly to the Energex grid, giving you reliable, metered power for tools, lighting, compressors, and any other equipment on site.
Types of Temporary Power Poles
Stayed Poles (Overhead Connection)
The most common type for Gold Coast residential builds. These timber poles are braced with guy wires and connect to the overhead Energex network via aerial cable. They're quick to install and cost-effective for most standard residential sites.
Unstayed Poles (Overhead Connection)
Similar to stayed poles but without guy wires, making them suitable for sites where stay wires would obstruct access or construction activities. They're slightly more expensive but give you more flexibility with site layout.
